This year\u2019s theme of Women\u2019s History Month in March recognizes the powerful leadership of women in creating a community where everyone has what they need to thrive. As For All Seasons celebrates its 40th anniversary year, the agency is honoring the role women have played in its history and, more recently, its growth under the leadership of President and CEO Beth Anne Dorman.<\/p>\n

When reflecting on the influences that have shaped her leadership style, Dorman points first to her parents.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have had some strong influences over the years that have shaped how I show up as a professional,\u201d she shares. \u201cMy father never compromised his integrity while climbing the ladder at work, and my mom stressed being true to who you are at all times.\u201d<\/p>\n

Eleven years ago, Dorman was serving on the For All Seasons Board of Directors with Alice Ryan when the agency faced an unexpected turning point following the sudden passing of Executive Director Dick Goldstein. Stepping into the role of interim executive director while Ryan served as Board Chair, Dorman leaned on trusted community professionals as she began leading the agency.<\/p>\n

\u201cDuring this difficult transition, Beth Anne was able to step up and lead the organization not only to thrive, but to experience huge growth in its scope and impact across the Mid-Shore region. Through her leadership ability and with the support of the staff and board, For All Seasons established itself as a premier mental health agency positively impacting the lives of so many members of our community,\u201d reflects Alice Ryan, previous Board Chair and long time donor and funder.<\/p>\n

\u201cBeth Anne was instrumental in taking For All Seasons on the path to be the force it is today. Without her leadership and vision, I strongly believe the success of the agency would not have occurred,\u201d she adds.<\/p>\n

In 2019, Beth Anne deepened her leadership approach by embracing Bren\u00e9 Brown\u2019s Dare to Lead\u2122<\/em> program. Alongside Lesa Mulcahy, LCSW-C, Chief Clinical Officer at For All Seasons, Dorman is among a select group of certified Dare to Lead\u2122 facilitators nationwide. Together, they have since trained the entire For All Seasons staff, as well as members of the broader community.<\/p>\n

Through this work, Dorman has focused on the idea that choosing courage over comfort is essential to change and leading effectively in times of uncertainty. This mindset has guided For All Seasons\u2019 continued growth and innovation.<\/p>\n

As the agency grew, Dorman led her team to develop programs and services through community collaborations and partnerships to reach new audiences, including veterans, first responders, teachers, students, business leaders, and the Latino community. During this time, she focused on strengthening both the agency\u2019s model of care and the expertise of its team, while also bringing in national and international experts \u2013 such as Dr. Muriel Buqu\u00e9, Dr. Jeff Thompson, and Dr. Stuart Ablon \u2013 to train staff and engage the broader community in timely mental health topics.<\/p>\n

In 2022, Dorman was named the 2022 “Woman of Achievement” by the Business & Professional Women of Maryland. Susan Horst, Past State President, Business & Professional Women of Maryland (BPW MD), shares, “Beth Anne Dorman is an advocate for humankind.\u00a0 Her love and kindness, combined with brilliant and strategic actions, have advanced behavioral health care to extraordinary levels. She exhibits leadership in all aspects of developing, growing, and funding mental health care, victim services, and wellness resources for her agency. Her expertise in integrating community partners has created an unparalleled continuum of care at For All Seasons. She is a model leader, and an inspiration to all \u2013 truly a \u2018woman helping women succeed.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Beth Anne Dorman represents the kind of leadership Women\u2019s History Month celebrates \u2013 grounded in purpose, collaboration, and the belief that strong organizations are built by strong teams. By intentionally bringing together talented, mission-driven individuals and empowering them to lead, she continues to shape the future of For All Seasons and expand its impact across the region.<\/p>\n
